Record loss
Well, perhaps not lost so much as mislaid. Via Watts Up With That I see that the Met Orifice have moved the web location of the Central England Temperature record, one of the longest directly measured continuous temperature records anywhere and currently indicating that December just gone was the coldest for over a century and the second coldest since 1659, and the link is missing from the usual page. Suspicious? The CET is far too well known to be dropped down a memory hole, and rather generously Anthony Watts suggests that with their form this could be bad organisation rather than the deliberate act that some of his commenters suspect. I'm inclined to sit on the fence but I might freeze to the bloody thing, so I'll just say that I'm unsure either way. Odd though, isn't it?

Add insightful or amusing remarks for me to think on and respond to. Or add annoying comment spam for me to waste time deleting, in which case may your genitals turn square and fester at the corners.
Unnecessary ranting and gratuitous profanity is strictly encouraged.
NB - due to some annoying pricks comment spamming lately all comments with three or more any links go into a moderation queue. If it's not spam I will publish all comments even tenuously related to whatever I was rambling about in the post. Otherwise please refer to the comments policy.

They were so ham-fisted that they even sought to delete GB's "no more boom and bust" budget speech from the audio archive, leaving a gap... one assumes they thought they had the only copy....
However, on past performance I expect UKMO to foul up rewriting history as well as they've fouled up weather predictions.
Why, oh why , are their foolish and inept meddlings and outright dishonesty tolerated?

Gosh, an arm of the public sector, either incompetent at web stuff or maliciously hiding bad news.
I'm genuinely conflicted here... ;)
