Surely the only reason to oppose such a referendum must be fear of the result?
There aren't many decent MPs but it's not quite fair to say that all 646 should be dancing the hemp fandango in a few months. Douglas Carswell has little chance of this getting anywhere, as he himself acknowledges. But since all three parties sections of the ruling party* have gone back on their promises just one MP having the balls to put this on the Order Paper is something.
