A puzzle encased in an enigma wrapped up in what-the-fuck paper.

I've just tried to buy an ebook and the website said it was out of stock. Can someone explain how the hell an instantly reproducible PDF can possibly be out of stock? Has their binary printer broken down leaving them unable to produce the streams of ones and zeros needed, and if so how come their estock of other ebooks isn't affected as well?

Weird.

Sounds plausible, though after posting I remembered I saw something on Cracked! the other day about artificial scarcity. Bit extreme for a David Yallop book though so your idea is probably more like it.
It's caused by the IMF and the Eurobank. Because of the need for the urgent financial bailout in Ireland there is a shortage of hign denomination ones. I can only assume your ebook has over 128 pages and therefore has been temporarily affected by the shortage. I believe these ones, along with their matching zeros, are manufactured in China and as soon as some more can be imported the problem will be solved.
