Updating Schrödinger's Cat

A cat can be both asleep and hungry until it observes you observing it, at which point the wave function will collapse and it will become either asleep or hungry.

But usually hungry.

Dunno why, but once the waveform collapses our new cat displays a tendency to emit a 'hungry' particle rather than an 'asleep' particle, at which point we all emit a 'shut the fuck up, I'm trying to get back to sleep' particle.

It's probably something to do with the dominance of matter over antimatter, or gravitational strings, or something. It's been a long time since I did my OU degree, though.

So it's not even waiting to be observed? :D

Not sure about that.

My little bastards used to decide that since they were awake and I wasn't (it being 03:20 in the fucking morning), that the only way to resolve Hungry&Awake (Feline) + Sleeping(TinOpener, sorry Human) was a 30mph roundhouse to my nose with claws retracted.

If that didn't wake me up then 2nd or 3rd time around the claws would be deployed.

Cats are adorable creatures and when they need you, they really show it - unfortunately sometimes this involves a blood sacrifice and the Tin Opener, sorry Human as ALWAYS the victim.

I love cats, they're so deliciously ego centric.

One of ours sits on you and stretches out a paw with the claws out and just lightly taps them on your skin, not quite hard enough to penetrate. It's like having someone flick needles at you - more annoying than painful but you know that blood could be spilled.
