Union bosses have threatened legal action against Royal Mail after it announced that it would recruit up to 30,000 temporary staff to cope with strikes by postal workers and to deal with the Christmas rush.Fucking unbelievable. I'm no lawyer but I assume the CWU have spoken to some and the guy probably does have some legal case for this, but it's still fucking unbelievable to me. That a company being crippled by industrial action could be legally prevented from doing what it needs to do to survive and continue the employment of the maniacs who seem hell bent on destroying it from the inside out seems like an almost perfect example of insanity.
With two national post strikes due this week, Royal Mail has announced that it will hire twice the number of extra staff it usually takes on in the run-up to Christmas.
The leader of the Communication Workers Union, which has called the strikes, accused bosses of inflaming the long-running dispute over jobs, pay and services.
“I think it is a stupid move. It will inflame things,” Billy Hayes, the CWU general secretary, said on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show.
He added that the announcement was “typical” of the culture of management at Royal Mail.

Do postmen really want the Royal Mail to die?
Not the first time I've wondered that of course, but now I see they're considering taking legal action to stop Royal Mail hiring extra temps over Christmas.
